WOW! WHAT A SUMMER SO FAR!
We have had a magnificent summer so far. God has been so good and provided so much for us that I just have to brag on God and thank Him for the wonderful blessing He has sent us.
1. Ed and Judy Wood our MSC workers are staying another year.
2. Ed and Judy's sons with a little help from Dad and a friend or two installed the new roof on one side of the back of our building.
3. A group of men from First Bapitst Charleston has installed all but six sheets of metal on the other side of the back of our building.
4. We purchased metal for the front of the building. It was a little higher than we had expected. However, God provides. A gift from a Church, a gift from the manufactor, and we had only about $500.00 in the metal. Thank you God and thank you to those who are obedient to His opportunities.
5. A group from Ridgecrest Baptit Church, St Charles, MO came down and hooked up the walk-in freezer-refrigerator and got it going. Thank you Lord.
6. A group from Ridgecrest Baptist Church, St Chareles, MO came down and installed a lot of the metal on the front of the building. IT SURE LOOKS GOOD!! Again Thank you Lord
7. Still another group came down from Ridgecrest Baptist Church, St Charles, MO and providedd and fun day for the kids. All kinds of games, food, and a wonderful devotional. The kids had a great time. Thank you Lord
8. A youth choir, Exaltation, from First Baptist Church, Athens, AL under the direction of Brian Leffler came to spend a week doing music and mission work for us. WoW! those kids and adults worked like crazy. Then in the afternoon they sang at the local Nursing Homes, then provided and wonderful week of music and other teaching/training for our kids. OH by the way, they were invited into our School System. They sang for the High School, Middle School, and Elementery Summer School Program. Another Thank you Lord.
9 Next, We had Sports Crusaders for a basketball camp. We had five most of the time six great coastes to come and lead the Camp. We had over 110 register and averaged better than 80 per day in two camps. These Coaches earned their pay. The basketball was wonderful. The small groups were excellent. The results were a huge blessing from God.
10. After one week of rest. haha!! Along came Calvary Baptist from Odessa and New Liberty Baptist from Oak Grove. Miracle after miracle is all I can say. What a week! God provided. People worked together. Things were accomplished that were not even dreamed of at this time. Then we had VBS. More than 130 enrolled. A wonderful time of worship, study, fellowship, games, and food. These two magnificent Churches were aided by people from Shining Light Baptist, Wyatt Baptist, and First Baptist Church Charleston. Amazing, when people from five churches from all over MO come together and most did not know each other, it was if they had been working together all of their lives. A GOD THING! Thank you God and thank you all who helped this week.
11, A week break and Ozark Baptist Church from Houston, MO show up. This is their third major Mission trip to Shining Light and I think they are scheduled back again for at least one more year. What a difference they make. This time they tried something new. They invited a few of our older kids to go out to the Charleston Baptist Association Campground with them. They would stay with the gorup for the entire week. While at the campgroun they would be mentored, discipled, and trained to step up and take the lead Spiritually. There was a different group of young people who came back from camp than the kids that went. I believe it was a huge success. Also, they would come in to the Mission and work every day. They cleaned, painted. prepared to pour concrete (rain delavyed the pourt) but we are ready. Our kids worked alongside their kids and adults. What a week! Thank you Lord you knew just what we needed.
Well, that is all so far. However, tomorrow a group from First Baptist Church, Louisiana, MO will be arriving. We are excited, they are excited, and I can't wait to see what God is going to do. I will let you know later about this group. I know God is going to bless. Then the next week First Baptist Charleston is coming out to help us for a week. They are taking their Mission trip right here at home. What a novel idea! They will be staying in their family life center and showering at our facility and working at the misssion every day.. God has certainly openned the windows of heaven and blessed us this year. And the Summer is only half finished. WOW!!
